This is a photo of Canmore, AB taken by my grandfather a buhgillion years ago. He and my granny came out in the late thirties (I think) on the train to visit Banff. Many of the paintings that hang in my parents place up here were done by Grandpa from photos from that trip. There have been times when I have gone for a hike or ski and ended up in a spot that I swear I have been before- and usually its from staring at his paintings on the wall.
I wonder what Canmore was like back then- probably a pretty rough mining town. How it has changed. Canmore is anything but rough, in fact I would say Canmore has become the opposite of rough, its soft. You can't walk down the street with out annoying someone, and inevitably, someone will write a letter about it, and ask you to put your dog on leash, and give you a ticket for riding your bike, and complain that your yard needs to be perfectly green, and that your car is too far from the curb, and that your botherint he wildlife, and that only THEY should be allowed to live here.
I must stop because I get too riled up thinking about it. Its a great image though and I am so glad mom gave me a copy to share with all of you.
